Obesity and Corona:
Researchers analyzed data from John Hopkins University and World Health Organization and found a relation between obesity and deaths from Covid-19. The report is really shaking. The report says that ” The risk of death from Covid-19 is roughly 10 times higher in countries where most of the population is overweight” This report was released by the World Obesity Forum.
The report said that among 2.5 million Covid-19 death up to February, 2021, 2.2 million death were in the countries where the more than half of the population is overweight. Tim Lobstein, PhD, study author and senior policy adviser to the World Obesity Federation told the ” Independent’ that ” We now know that overweight population will be the next target of pandemic. Better look at countries like Japan and South Korea where the Covid-19 death level is very low because they have very low level of adult obesity.
Use of Hydroxychloroquine in Covid-19:
In the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic, it was believed that a medicine named ” Hydroxychloroquine ” could prevent from Covid-19. Now researchers gathered more test results . An international panel of experts, based on the finding of new analysis , strongly advises not to use Hydroxychloroquine to prevent Covid-19. Thy believe above recommendations could help in reducing he adverse side effects. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revoked their emergency use authorization for treating Covid-19.
First case of Covid-19 from organ transplant:
US News and World Report says that it is the very first time in Covid- pandemic that a person developed Covid-19 after receiving an organ transplant from a donor who has SARS-Civid-2.
A woman who was effected with Covid-19 and later died after undergoing a double lung transplant in Michigan.
Fully vaccinated people meetings.
According to new guidelines issued by Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of U.S.A. , fully vaccinated people can meet with other fully vaccinated people indoor . However , they should wear a face mask and maintain a physical distancing measures.
U.K. variant more infectious:
After months of destruction , the researchers were hoping some relief in the pandemic . Now increase in infection numbers is still high in U.S. . About 60,000 new case a day were reported in the present week. Expects are predicting another Covid-19 attack caused by the B.1.1.7 variant . It could happen in the next 6 to 14 weeks. Michael Osterholm, PHD, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Ninnesota told NBC (meet the press) on March 7, that ” several week ago, there were 1 to 4 % people effected with B.1.1.7 variant, but today they are 30 to 40% across the country”.
Covid-19 drug combo:
Dr. Daniel Skovronsky, Eli Lilly chief Scientific Officer and President of Lilly Research Laboratories said in a company statement that ” a combination of two Eli Lilly antibody drugs were found effective to reduce 87% the risk of Covid-19 related infection . The antibody drug Bamlanivimab 700 mg and Etesevimab 1400 mg are combined and taken as per instructions.
Covid-19 and heart complications:
Many diseases can cause heart related complications , but SARS-Cov-2 found striking the Cardiovascular system more frequently. An article published in “Science”, says that ” scientists know that most diseases affect the lungs, but not the heart. SARS-Cov-2 is quite different . It may have a tendency to cause Cardiac-related issue such as inflammation of the heart, heart attack and heart rhythm irregularities.
Covid-19 vaccine and blood clotting:
AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine is being used in many countries. Some vaccinated people reported abnormal blood clotting . However World Health Organization (WHO) has said that there is no evidence that the vaccine causes blood clots to form.
Use of Aspirin in Covid-19:
Many people hospitalized with Covid-19 have excessive blood clotting . A pilot study of such people suggest that a low dose of anticoagulant Aspirin could reduce the need of mechanical ventilation and admission to intensive care.
