Uncooked rice can contain Spores that can survive when the rice is cooked (Spore – is a unit of sexual or asexual reproduction that may be adapted for dispersal and for survival, often for extended period of time, in unfavourable conditions. Spores form part of the life cycle of many plants). If the rice stands at room temperature for the long, those Spores turn into bacteria that in turn can cause food poisoning. Store your rice as quickly as possible once you are done eating it.

Left over rice could make you sick if you do not do the following:
It is a common practice to store the left over rice and reheated and eat. Such reheated rice can cause food poisoning. It is not the reheating that causes the problem , but instead the way the rice has been stored after being cooked for first time. If the rice is left standing at room temperature after it has been boiled, the Spores can grow into bacteria, which will ultimately multiply and may produce Toxins that  cause vomiting or diarrhea. The cooked rice left at room temperature, are unsafe to eat.

What to do to be on safe side ?

  1. Serve rice as soon as it has been cooked, and cool any left over as quickly as possible, ideally within one hour. Such rice can be kept in a fridge but not more than one day .
  2. Make sure the rice is steaming hot all the way when reheating.

Bear in mind your health is wealth. Any carelessness can cause big problem.

Eat  Dates

Dates are a wonderful pick-me-up 4.00 pm snack to give you a safe and positive (no sugar crash) energy uplift. Nutritionist at Health Total has suggested to eat up to 4 dates in the evening, specially when any one is more likely to crave for junk food. Dates are rich in fiber and can give up to 13% of recommended intake. The excess of fiber can cause bloating and other digestive issues.

Eating too many dates in a day can also lead to weight gain and tooth decay due to their higher Fructose level. (Fructose is a type of glucose found in dates).

It is better to limit your date intake and eat before meal time to feel full and balance the calorie intake.

Diabetic people should consult their doctor before eating dates regularly.
