Blood pressure:

When our heart pumps blood through the Arteries , the blood puts pressure on the arteries walls. This is  known as blood pressure.

Blood pressure is measures in two numbers .  The first number is called Systolic blood pressure. This is the pressure in our arteries when our heat beats. The second number called Diastolic blood pressure .This measures  the pressure in our arteries when our heart rests between beats.  The measurement 120/80 mmHg  means 120 systolic and 80 diastolic blood pressure.

High blood pressure.

The 7th report of the joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation , and Treatment of high blood pressure ( 2023 guide line) recommend the following high blood pressure levels :

Normal       Systolic = < 120 mmGh           Diastolic = < 80 mmGh

At risk          Systolic = 120-139 mmGh      Diastolic = 80-89 mmGh

High B.P.      Systolic = 140 mmGh or above  Diastolic= 90 mmGh or higher

Symptoms of high blood pressure.

There are no clear symptoms of high blood pressure. Some people  do not  even know that they have high blood pressure. Measuring your blood pressure is the only and best way to diagnose your high blood pressure.

Affects of high blood pressure.

Thanks for researchers , who discussed, examined and inform the people about the affects of high blood pressure, also called hypertension . According to the  previous studies , high blood pressure has the following affects :

• High blood pressure increases  the patient’s risk  for many cardiovascular issues. Stroke, heart failure and Atrial fibrillation ( Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is an irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm. An irregular heart rhythm is called an arrhythmia. AFib can lead to blood clots in the heart. The condition also increases the risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications) are among them.
• The patients of high blood pressure have a greater risk of kidney damage. Beside that, metabolic syndrome ( Metabolic syndrome is a condition that includes a cluster of risk factors specific for cardiovascular disease. Zilebesiran  Injection- A new medicine.

Researching are investigating a new medicine called Zilebesiran Injection  to treat high blood pressure for a longer period of time. Zilebesiran Injection  is an investigational RNA Interface agent targeting Angiotensinogen , AGT for short. AGN is a hormone , which is produced in our liver. This hormone regulate our blood pressure.

Dr. George L. Baker, professor of medicine & Director of the American Heart Association Comprehensive Hypertension Centre at the University of Chicago , explain this in his own words as under :

” Zilebesiran Injection  blocks the message within the cell  that stimulate the production of a substance called Angiotensinogen. This is the substance that is transformed into Angiotensin , a potent agent that causes arteries to constrict and raises blood pressure. Angiotensin II has many purposes , but in excess , can raise blood pressure. Thus blocking its production reduces the likelihood of blood pressure elevation and will lower pre-existing high blood pressure.'”

Dr. Baker and his team recruited around 400 people who were having mild to moderate high blood pressure. Their systolic blood pressure level was 135-160 mmHg. Among these people some were not taking any anti high blood pressure  medication, and some were taking two anti hypertension medication. Dr. Baker divided them into 4 groups.  Every group received a dose of Zilebesiran Injection  or a placebo (  An inactive substance or other intervention that looks the same as, and is given the same way as, an active drug or treatment being tested) . The effects of the active drug or other intervention are compared to the effects of the placebo).  Each group received a dose of Zilebesiran Injection as under :

1st group     –   150 mg , one dose after 6 months.

2nd group   –   300 mg ,  one dose after 6 months.

3rd group    –   600 mg, one dose after 6 months.

4th group     –   300 mg, one dose after 3 months.

Dr. Baker and other researcher of the study found amazing results of Zilebesiran injection . The participants of all four groups experienced  20mmHg or more reduction in  their 24 hour  average systolic  blood pressure without taking any other high blood pressure medication. Their systolic blood pressure level  remained 130 mmHg or less during 24 hour.

Many heart physicians agreed that invention of Zilebesran Injection,  the new  hi blood pressure drug  is a big advantage in hi blood pressure medication. Prof. Sir Nilesh Samani, , medical director at the British Heart Foundation also reviewed the study and told :

” This study shows that a Zilebesiran injection which could be given as little as twice a year is effective at lowering blood pressure. Further work is needed to show that it reduces the heart attacks and strokes but if this is the case, then this could be a game changing new treatment for high blood pressure.”
